Welcome to my half-baked newsletter sweet potato heads. “Shka” is a Russian diminutive suffix I love. It makes any noun (or word) sweeter, cuter. It denotes smallness and affection for a person or thing. I plan to use Something-shka as a space to keep you up-to-date on my book progress, send you occasional love letters, revelations, book recommendations and photo essays when inspiration strikes. ⚡️While I figure out exactly what this will look like, here’s a photo of me impersonating a cowboy.
